At the end of May 2021, by Government Emergency Ordinance no. 43/2021, the deadline for the submission of the annual Ultimate Beneficial Owner statement for Romanian companies was extended for the year 2021 until October 1st. According to previous rules, the deadline for such submission was 15 days as of the approval of the financial statements.
Such statement may have the form of a privately signed deed or an electronic form and it may be submitted to the relevant Trade Registry by electronic means, with an electronic signature, or by postal and courier services. Also, the annual statement on the ultimate beneficial owner may be issued before a representative of the competent Trade Registry office or may be submitted, personally or through a proxy, certified by a notary public or attested by a lawyer.
