Professional Background

Zdeněk focuses on sports, media and gaming law, and advisory in private equity matters. He is one of the most significant Czech sport lawyers, with a special focus on football law. He has extensive experience with mid-size and large mergers and acquisitions transactions, including cross-border CEE deals.
Zdeněk has been cooperating with PETERKA PARTNERS since 2000 and became an Equity Partner in 2010. Currently, he is the Leader of the Sport, Media and Gaming practice at PETERKA PARTNERS. Previously, he co-managed the firm's office in Bratislava for a couple of years.
Since 2010, Zdeněk has acted as counsel for FC Viktoria Plzeň the leading Czech football club, and advises on key legal matters in connection with the operations of the club at the Czech and European levels (transfer of players, domestic and UEFA disciplinary matters including sports litigation and arbitration, agreements with sponsors, TV agreements, etc.). He is a member of the Legislative Commission of the League Football Association which represents professional clubs in the Czech Republic, and he regularly participates at legal events organized by FIFA, UEFA, European football clubs, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Zdeněk also regularly publishes in various magazines focused on sport and betting (Competition Law Insight, Online Gambling Lawyer, etc.) and occasionally gives lectures to university students on sports law. Zdeněk was recognized as a leading Czech lawyer by Media Law International, a leading independent publisher.
