Major changes to collective consumer litigation and product safety in Bulgaria are now in force.

As of February 2026, Bulgaria has introduced a new legal framework for representative actions, allowing qualified organisations to bring claims for injunctions and consumer redress, including compensation, refunds, and contract termination.

The new regime also introduces faster court procedures, public notification of actions, and the possibility for coordinated cross-border actions across EU Member States.

At the same time, product safety obligations have been significantly expanded, with stricter requirements on traceability, risk management, incident reporting, and Safety Gate notifications.
